Charles A. Henderson, MD
Charles A. Henderson, MD was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated cum laude from Allegheny College with a BS degree in chemistry and obtained a Medical Degree from the University Of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency at Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh and a two-year fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus. Dr. Henderson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is Board Certified in Oncology and is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
In 1987, Dr. Henderson was awarded honors for Advanced Achievement in Internal Medicine. That same year, Dr. Henderson, along with Dr. Perry Ballard, founded Peachtree Hematology-Oncology Consultants. He has numerous publications and abstracts in the field of Hematology and Oncology. He has been actively involved in clinical research projects, particularly in the area of gastrointestinal malignancy.
Dr. Henderson has served on Advisory Committees to the Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, the Leukemia Society of America, and the Medical Association of Atlanta. He has been in private practice at Piedmont Hospital since 1978, where he has served as Chairman of the Cancer Committee, Chief of the Hematology – Oncology Section and Chairman of the Institutional Review Board. He is a past President of the Georgia Society of Clinical Oncology and past member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Clinical Practice Committee. He has served on the Board of the Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education. He is very actively involved in clinical research trials through various pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions.
Dr. Henderson has two sons. When away from his busy medical practice and research pursuits, he loves jazz, traveling, and running.
